The Global Competitiveness Report 2010-2011 of World Economic Forum was released
An official presentation of the Global Competitiveness Report 2010-2011 of World Economic Forum will be held on 9 September, 2010.
Azerbaijan Marketing Society as a local partner organization of World Economic Forum conducted its yearly survey within the framework of World Competiveness Report. The results of this survey were used in the preparation of 2010-2011 Report and competitiveness ranking of our country was calculated based on this survey.
This year Azerbaijan is in the 57th place according to the competitiveness ranking. It is necessary to note that again this year our country has had the highest result among CIS countries. Azerbaijan has ranked in the 51st place in 2009-2010 report.
Observations indicate that Azerbaijan lags behind the competitiveness rankings in nominal terms, however it was able to preserve its development dynamics and level of competitiveness in real terms. Azerbaijan got 4.3 points on 7-point scale, which is the same as it was in last year. Two possible reasons of this nominal lag can be noted:
1. Increase in the number of countries up to 139 in the current report (in the previous report 133 countries were taken into account)
2. Restoration and revival of economies of some countries that have suffered from the financial crisis in the time of previous report
